Condition Guide

At DialArchives, each watch is assessed using an internal visual condition rating system. Our scores are designed to give customers a clear and transparent guide to the visible condition, presentation, and basic operation of each timepiece at the time of listing.

Important Rating Notice

DialArchives condition ratings are internal visual assessment scores. They are provided as a guide only and are not an official manufacturer assessment, authentication certificate, pressure test, timing report, service report, or guarantee of future performance.

Please review all product photos, videos, and descriptions carefully before purchase, as they form part of the item description.

Rating Scale

Our condition ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale, with 5 representing the highest overall presentation and 1 representing parts, repair, or project condition.

Assessment Criteria

Each watch may be evaluated across the following areas before receiving an overall condition rating. Not every category applies to every item.

Dial & Markers Visible dial condition, markers, hands, patina, stains, refinishing signs, and overall appearance.
Case Condition Visible case wear, scratches, polishing, dents, plating wear, engraving, and general cosmetic presentation.
Parts & Visual Consistency How visually consistent the visible parts appear with the model, age, and presentation of the watch. This is not an authentication certificate or guarantee that every component is factory-original.

Crystal Condition Visible crystal scratches, chips, marks, cracks, clarity, and general presentation.
Strap / Bracelet Visible condition, wear, fitment, stretch, clasp function, and whether the strap or bracelet is original, replacement, or aftermarket where known.
Box & Papers Presence and visible condition of any box, papers, manuals, warranty documents, accessories, or service records shown in the listing.

Vintage & Pre-Owned Watch Notice

Vintage and pre-owned watches may show signs of wear, aging, patina, marks, previous polishing, replacement parts, service history gaps, or minor imperfections consistent with age and use. These characteristics are common in older timepieces and should be considered before purchase.

Water resistance is not guaranteed unless explicitly stated as tested. Any water resistance wording should be treated as a case or dial marking only unless a current pressure test is specifically provided.

DialArchives is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by the watch brands listed unless explicitly stated.
